Little Aarushi has walked this world for all of six years, but she often displays sensibility and sensitivity which even the adults surrounding her lack. Here is the picture composition assignment given to her by her teacher in her summer holidays. She was asked to color it, create a story around it and give a suitable title to it. Since this was the first time such an assignment was given to her, she immediately took it to her mamma, whom she adored uninhibited. Mamma who had just come from office, explained her what was to be done and how to create a story- Mamma gave an example and wove the story this way—
Mamma’s Picture Composition
” This pretty girl ( See Picture below) is little Aarushi, and her Mamma has got her a new umbrella. Aarushi can’t wait to get into the Rains with her new umbrella and show it off to her friends. So Mamma tells her, “You are going out in your favourite skirt, make sure you don’t splash about in the water and if its raining heavily , stick to the foyer and don’t venture in the garden area. I don’t want you coming back with muddy shoes and wet clothes”. Off goes lil Aarushi and she soon forgets all about mamma’s instructions, her favorite skirt and pretty shoes and ends up getting drenched in the pouring rains. The shoes have turned all muddy. But Aarushi is busy enjoying the Rains with her purple, pink & Orange Umberella. Just then Mamma sees from the window that its pouring heavily and decides she needs to check on Aarushi and she goes out. As expected Aaarushi has not paid heed to all Mamma’s instructions….Mamma gets annoyed and tells Aarushi to get back home right away….”
At this juncture, Little Aarushi interrupted Mamma and told her very politely…..”..No No mamma, this is not the right story, I know what the story is, let me tell you ………
Aarushi’s Picture Composition
“Aarushi’s mamma has presented her with her favourite color umbrella- Purple, Pink & Orange and she has decided to wear her favourite skirt along with the umbrella, as it also has all of these colors matching to the Umbrella. Aarushi gives one umbrella to her Mamma and carries her new one and both of them go out in the rains. Both of them enjoy the rains very much, sprinkle water on each other, play around with their umbrella’s, jump and hop in the puddles and get all wet. Then Mamma says to Aarushi ” We will come again tomorrow, it was so much fun”. Then they hug each other tight, get back home. Mamma helps Aarushi clean up, change into warm clothes and they have a nice dinner, brush their teeth and go off to sleep together. Aarushi gave Mamma a goodnight peck and told her she was the “Best Mamma in this World”.
“What can a mother learn from her Child?”– this was the question asked to shortlisted Femina Miss India Contestants in the last round……..now we have the best answer to it……..
Well, listening to Aarushi’s picture composition, her mamma was very touched and she realized how her version of the story was starkly different from Aarushi’s. How children display positive thinking all the time? Why as adults we become so negative. Plenty of instructions of how not to do certain things, become an overkill. They could actually turn a positive thinking mind into a negative one. This hard hitting realization, made Aarushi’s Mamma resolve, that she will let Aarushi enjoy the little joys of Life- sometimes eating messily, getting wet in the rains, playing in the mud, lazying in the bed, slowly eating desserts, and so many more………………….Mamma gave Aarushi 5 Stars for her Superb Picture Composition and now the picture has been framed to be cherished forever and to remind mamma “How not to give instructions starting with “DON’t” .
